This ryokan is the perfect place for a traditional Japanese experience. the beautiful Japanese landscape garden is breathtaking and it was a joy to wander around freely. the attentiveness of the staff was wonderful and the traditional dinners were delicious. the private baths in the rooms were a highlight, providing a serene and relaxing experience after a long day.
Although the location was peaceful, it was rather far from public transportation, and it's difficult to find open restaurants in the area during certain hours. the language barrier can be a challenge since not all staff members speak English.

This hotel is located in a scenic hill area, which offers wonderful views as you take a brisk walk to the nearby station or catch taxis and buses easily. the garden is filled with lovely lanterns and Buddha statues, and the outdoor hot spring is picturesque. the rooms are spacious and comfortable, with nice views of the surroundings and the breakfast is good quality with polite staff. One can also enjoy the famous Japanese traditional food, Osechi Ryori.
The hotel falls short in terms of cleanliness, the windows in the corridor can appear dusty and the bathroom facilities tend to be outdated.

During my Christmas stay at this ryokan, I enjoyed the beautiful large Japanese garden that was open for guests to stroll through. The private onsen was also a great feature, providing a relaxing and tranquil experience. the proximity to the ropeway was a bonus, making it easy to take a trip to see the surrounding area.
The facilities were quite outdated and the service was not up to par, especially for the high price. I think there are better value options to choose from in the area with more up-to-date facilities and better service.

My stay at Sanyo-So was truly a dream come true. From the moment I arrived, I was captivated by the beautiful surroundings and serene atmosphere. The traditional Japanese gardens and architecture were breathtaking, and I felt like I was stepping into a different world. The private onsen in my villa was a definite highlight, offering pure relaxation and tranquility. The Kaiseki dinner and breakfast were both exquisite, both in taste and presentation. Every dish was a work of art. The attentive and kind staff made sure that every aspect of my stay was enjoyable and memorable. The location, although not mentioned specifically, was easily accessible, and the hotel provided a shuttle from Mishima station. I was thoroughly impressed with Sanyo-So and would highly recommend it to anyone seeking a truly exceptional Japanese ryokan experience.
